Video and photo shoot from a local cemetery.
As a child, my brother and I were fascinated by this graveyard. It was built in the 1800s and is a Catholic Jesuit Cemetery. A few of the graves carry the remains of Civil War soldiers. The crypt is located on a hill and houses a famous Jesuit priest buried beneath the floor.
I was fascinated when I flew over the crypt and saw the unusual letters “AMDG”.
One of my smart historical colleagues let me know that the markings represented a famous Latin Jesuit Saying:
Ad Majored Dei Gloria: “For the Greater Glory of God”
May everyone rest in piece πΌ
Whoa! That is creepy, in a beautiful way! interesting to have those initials on the roof!
